Our paddle waters

The Kinda region offers a connected lake system in a hilly landscape with a mixTripe of open landscape and big forrestes. You can paddle through lake after lake without having to step out of the kayak for more than one week. The lakes have many small islands in general, most of them with wonderful smooth rocks polished through year thousends by the ice. Due to the allemansrätt, you are allowed to raise your tent almost anywere. The water quality is fabolous and fulfills even the Swedish requirements for tap water on most places!! A recommended trip duration including small breaks are presented for each lake below. If you want to stay out for more than one day, it's just to combine the lakes.

Kinda Kanal

Lilla Rängen

Size, length - 2,5km2, 8km Sort - Open narrow lake followed by a small channel Highlights - Beautiful channel under old bridges and a couple of remarkable beaches Adjacent lakes - Stora Rängen in east and Järnlunden in south Trip length - 2h - 1/2 day. Else - Just down the slope from Kinda Kajak. Car transport not necessary!

Järnlunden

Size, length, omkrets - 16km2, 8km, 33km Sort - Open, large lake with many small islands. Highlights - Kinda Castle from year 1731. Brokind lock. Many small islands with smooth rocks. Adjacent lakes - Lilla Rängen i north and Norra Åsunden in south Trip length - 1/2 - 1 day. Else - Just down the slope from Kinda Kajak, 500m paddle and through a lock. Car transport not necessary!

Stora Rängen

Size, length, omkrets - 11km2, 9.5km, 33km Sort - Open lake with some very nice islands Highlights - Bjärka Säby gods with the old castle from 1632. Many old villas along the shore Adjacent lakes - Ärlången in north och Lilla Rängen in west Trip length - 1/2h - 1 day.

Ärlången

length - Stora Rängen to lake Roxen: 26km Sort - Channel that falls i 7 steps down to lake Ärlången. Further north the channel passes straight through the centre of town Linköping and ends in lake Roxen. Highlights - Locks and old slussvaktarbostäder from the 19'th centuryt. North Åsunden

Size, length, omkrets - xxkm2, 16km, 39km Sort - Long lake in two parts. A few islands. Very little population. Highlights - Nothing remarkable. Adjacent lakes - Järnlunden in north, South Åsunden in south and Ämmern in east. Trip length 1/2 - 1 day.

Ämmern

Size, length - 8,5km2, 11km Sort - Hilly and beautiful surrounding terreign. Some Islands, mainly forrest though. Very unpopulated south-eastern part. Highlights - The very beautiful channel between Åsunden and Ämmern. A large nice "herrgård" Adjacent lakes - Norra Åsunden to the west Trip length - 1/2 - 1 day. Else - The only good islands are the ones south from Ko-island

Drögen

Size, length, omkrets - 9,5km2, 14km, 39km Sort - A spring-lake with very clear water! Sight 6-7m! Mainly forrest around this finger-like lake. Härliga öar med släta klippor. Highlights - Inget mer än naTripen själv. Adjacent lakes - Går ej att paddla vidare Trip length - 1/2 - 1 day. Else - Rik på fisk. Ph-värde mellan 7-8.

Åländern

Size, length, omkrets - 6km2, 8,5km, 24km Sort - Mycket varierande. Läckert smalt sund med branta väggar. Även lite skärgårdsSort Highlights - Inget mer än vacker naTrip. Adjacent lakes - Går ej att paddla vidare Trip length - 1/2 - 1 day.
